Chad and I have been thinking a while about starting our own small collection of prints and artwork. Maybe it’s some phase of life that fits with why I’ve been saving away spatulas and pillows too. Besides asking around for trades with a few fellow photographers and artists I happen to know, I’ve been browsing print sites a lot lately for screenprints, letterpresses, glicees, etc in open and limited editions. There are a couple resources out there that are really exciting (and affordable) if you find yourself in the market.
Tiny Showcase
I love Tiny Showcase. From concept to execution, they’ve got a really great project going on. Basically small prints (often 4″x6″ or 8″x10″) in limited editions (around 100 or so usually) that sell in the $20-$30 range. Each week a new artist’s print is revealed for sale, as well as a charity that the artist has picked for part of the proceeds of their sales to contribute to. I recently purchased two of their March features pictured here- a signed book/letterpress print combo by Nigel Peake (“Ghost Houses” / “Abandoned Wooden and Beautiful”) and a letterpress print by Lizzy Stewart (“Flood”).
Check it out HERE.
Thumbtack Press
Thumbtack Press is a bit of a heftier collection of prints available for sale in a variety of sizes and prices. Most are open editioned which keeps them in that affordable price range. Once approved for the site, artists upload different images that are then printed and available for sale through thumbtack press. A really easy way to support and learn about artists.

Daniel Danger/Dan McCarthy – Watcher in the Woods

On the note of really tempting prints, Daniel Danger and Dan McCarthy just had their opening for “Watcher in the Woods” last Saturday at Gallery 1988 in San Francisco and have some pretty crazy work up for sale. You might recognize Danger’s work from a post Chad made earlier for the …Who Calls So Loud album, or any of his other various band posters.

You can see work from the show HERE.
