When I heard that the dudes from Sailboats had a new band called Loma Prieta I had to check them out right away. While a ton of people jocked their last release, Last City, I was a bit let down by it because the songwriting focused more on incorporating sick riffs rather than making solid songs. Plus the lyrics were just flat out bad. I’m on my first listen through of Dark Mountain and I can definitely hear the progression in their sound. The songs are much fuller sounding. I haven’t read the lyrics yet, but here’s hoping to an improvement. In the time that it took for me to write this little description the album ended. It’s only 15 minutes long. Sick.
