Gehard Demetz is an artist from Germany who makes amazing wooden sculptures. I don’t have more information on him because his website, which looks like it was built in 1999, doesn’t provide any. I guess his work will just have to speak for itself.
There’s something about these carvings that makes me feel uneasy. It’s a combination of them being very realistic looking children and being posed in such awkward/stressful positions. The missing sections of wood also add to the creepy factor. I wish I could read an artist statement of some sort.
