1) Obama’s Fox News Interview

If you haven’t seen Barack Obama being interviewed by Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly you should go check out the 4 part interview. It’s about 30 minutes total. Apparently the Obama camp offered this interview opportunity to O’Reilly so they’d receive some coverage during the RNC. I think that’s a pretty ballsy move considering O’Reilly’s position as the number one Republican Neocon talking head and his reputation for being a gigantic asshole. Obama handles himself well and doesn’t let O’Reilly get a rise out of him. I’m pumped on having a decent Presidential candidate.

These videos get taken down often, so I’ll link you to a youtube search that should yield some results.

HERE.

2) Quebec – Together We Have Grown, Together We Shall Bloom

hmm…. I couldn’t find a review for this cd anywhere which is kind of odd. So I’ll do my best.

Quebec was a spazzy screamo band from Melbourne, Australia (funny, huh) who released their EP Together We Have Grown, Together We Shall Bloom in 2007. Their sound falls somewhere in between the chaotic elements of Circle Takes the Square and the experimental side of the Mars Volta’s first full length. Which means their songs tend to favor build ups and quick chord changes, they wander at points, but always have a destination that’s not too far away.

I know the word jazz gets thrown around a lot when people try to describe technically proficent bands but… they definitely graze that territory a bit. They also manage to tastefully incorporate a Saxaphone on this album which rules. But why not listen to them for yourself and come to your own conclusion?

What now?
We bear this noble pain as we were raised to.
A sharp life-injection.
We will wake with sore heads;
A faux-freedom hangover.
The guard dog is asleep,
Head for the back-door.

What now?
We raise this dated flag as we were taught to.
A hot knife dissection.
We will wake with stitched heads.
A painful reminder of the fact that we’re slaves.
The guard do is asleep,
Head for the back door.

What now?
With this feeling i have inside,
I can understand why so many react the way they do.
With motion sickness,
How can we march towards a clearer future?

Their rash, their remedy.
Close black eyes and embrace the freedom that they sold to us.

Their rash, their remedy.
They sold us disease with trademarks and royalties.
We bought the cure on the black-market.

Their rash, their remedy.
We bought the cure on the black-market.

Their rash, their remedy. (x5)

We’ll climb to stand tall on this rubble
And turn these ruins into something like how life’s supposed to be.
